Wolfgang Hammersmith photographed this black-and-white portrait of a young Steve Martin long before he built a lengthy career as a successful actor, writer, comedian, producer, and musician. Martin owns multiple Grammys, an Emmy for Outstanding Writing Achievement in Comedy, Variety or Music, and a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Comedy Awards. His first starring role came in "The Jerk (1979)", which is one of AFI's 100 Greatest Comedies.
